The Missouri River Festival of the Arts celebrates 50 years of artistic excellence August 20-23
in Boonville. Artistic Director David Halen returns to Thespian Hall to honor the Golden
Anniversary of the Festival with outstanding musicians and performances, featuring renown
conductor Leonard Slatkin. Slatkin is former conductor of the St. Louis Symphony, The
National Symphony of Washington DC, the Detroit Symphony, and the Paris Philharmonic.
He is the recipient of 7 Grammy Awards and continues to conduct orchestras all over the
world.
Thursday, August 21: Musical Milestone . . . A Celebration of 50 years!
Susie Yang and Erik Harris perform “Duet for Cello and Bass,” by Rossini.
Mia Kim is the featured soloist in “Piano Quintet in A, (Trout) by Schubert.
Friday, August 22: A Touch of Brass . . . With Strings Attached
Susie Yang and Mia Kim perform “Pezzo Capriccioso in B minor,” by Tchaikovsky.
Hannah Ji and Xiaoxiiao Qiang play “Concerto for Two Violins in D minor,” by Bach.
The second half of the concert will showcase the Brass Section of the St. Louis Symphony,
conducted by Principal Horn, Roger Kaza. This will be a superb selection of Baroque, Classical
and Contemporary music played by the finest brass musicians in the world.
Saturday, August 23: Music with the Masters . . . Beethoven, Brahms, and Slatkin
Maestro Leonard Slatkin will conduct “The Marriage of Figaro,” by Mozart; Concerto for Violin
and Cello,” by Brahms, featuring David Halen and Megan Yip; and “Symphony No. 7 in A
Major,” by Beethoven.
Wednesday, August 20: The works of Visual Artist Gloria Gaus will be unveiled at an
Opening Reception from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Hain House, 412 Main Street. Her exhibit will
also be on display from 6:30-7:00 prior to each evening performance, and Saturday from
12:00 pm-7:00 pm.
Patron tickets are on sale now! To join us for a wonderful series of concerts and exhibits at
the 50th Missouri River Festival of the Arts, fill out the enclosed card, then return it to the
Friends office by August 9. If you are purchasing extra tickets in addition to your Patron
package, please let us know as soon as possible. Additional seating will be given on a first
come, first serve basis. You may also purchase Patron and online tickets at
