Leap Year Concert

The Prevailing Winds Quintet will be celebrating the 250th Anniversary of Beethoven’s birthday with a performance of “Presto for Winds,” as well as other classics by Malcolm Arnold, and Jacques Ibert. W.C. Hardy’s “St. Louis Blues” and the Latin Jazz Standard“Tico Tico” will also be on the program. The Prevailing Winds members are Kate Farris, Flute; Kelley Head, French Horn; Melissa Edwards, Oboe; Kimberly Foley, Bassoon; and Steve Litwiller, Clarinet. The professional Woodwind Quintet performs at area colleges, churches, civic events, weddings, and Music Educator workshops.
The second half of the concert will feature the “Let’s Keep the Lights On Dixieland Band,” performing a late Mardi Gras set with early Jazz classics such as “Panama,” “Up a Lazy River,” “Royal Garden Blues,” and “When the Saints Go Marching In.” The band is made up of local musicians and area music educators including: Steve Litwiller, clarinet; Chuck Appleton, trumpet; Kim Pirtle, tenor sax; Bridgette Randolph, trombone; Kyle Donnelly, tuba; and Sam Giroux on drums.
All proceeds from this concert will benefit the Thespian Hall Maintenance Fund and help pay for heat and electric bills for the winter months.
